RecallOS ("RecallOS," "we," "us," or "our") is an AI-powered study platform that turns your notes, slides, and study material into flashcards, quizzes, summaries, and a personal AI tutor. This Privacy Policy explains what we collect, why we collect it, and the choices you have. It is written to match the App Privacy disclosures we file with Apple. By using RecallOS you agree to this Policy.

1. Information We Collect

We only collect what we need to run the Service. Everything below is linked to your account unless we note otherwise.

Account data (Contact Info, Identifiers): your name (optional), email address, hashed password, and the user ID we assign you. Used to create your account, sign you in, sync your data across devices, and contact you about your account.
User content (Photos/Videos, Other User Content): notes, PDFs, slides, documents, photos, screenshots, handwritten material you upload, prompts and messages you send to the AI tutor, and the AI-generated study materials we create for you (flashcards, quizzes, summaries, study guides, exam predictions). Used solely to produce your study materials and keep your library available to you.
Usage data (Product Interaction, Analytics, Product Personalization):features used, study sessions, quiz answers and results, streaks, XP, screens viewed, device and browser information, and timestamps. Used to deliver the adaptive learning experience, personalize your reviews, and improve the product.
Weekly League data: your weekly XP, rank, and league are visible to other signed-in RecallOS users. Your chosen name is masked by default (for example, C*****). Accepted friends always see your chosen name; you can choose to show it to everyone from League or Settings. Blocked users are excluded from each other's League results.
Diagnostics (Crash Data, Other Diagnostic Data): crash reports, error traces, and performance metrics collected on device through Google Firebase and, on our servers, through Sentry. Used to find and fix bugs and keep the app stable. Not used to identify you.
Purchase information (Purchases): subscription status, product identifiers, and transaction receipts for subscriptions, gem packs, and streak restores. Payments are processed by Apple (In-App Purchase) and routed to us through RevenueCat. We never see or store your card number, Apple ID password, or full billing details.
Age eligibility: whether and when you confirmed that you meet the Service's minimum age. We do not collect your date of birth for this purpose.
Advertising data: if ads are available for your account, Google AdMob may process app- or device-scoped ad-request information such as your IP address, device and app identifiers, coarse location derived from IP, consent choices, ads shown, and ad interactions. For an optional rewarded ad, RecallOS also sends an internal account identifier and a single-use random verification token to Google; this reward-verification data is linked to your RecallOS account. Google returns signed ad-unit, reward, timestamp, and transaction information so we can grant 50 Gems, enforce daily limits, prevent duplicate rewards, and investigate fraud. RecallOS does not send your uploads, study content, quiz answers, medical topics, or tutor conversations to AdMob.

We do not collect precise location, health or fitness data, contacts, browsing history outside the app, audio recordings, financial account numbers, or sensitive categories such as race, religion, or political views. We do not sell personal information or use ads for cross-app/website behavioral tracking. Rewarded ads are voluntary, all ads are requested as non-personalized, and they are never based on your study or health-related content.

2. How We Use Your Information

Provide, maintain, secure, and improve the Service.
With your express permission, generate requested study materials by sending relevant uploads, prompts, and study context to Anthropic and OpenAI.
Personalize your experience — adaptive quizzes, weakness detection, spaced repetition, recommended next steps, and progress tracking.
Process subscriptions, gems, and other purchases through Apple In-App Purchase and RevenueCat; prevent fraud and enforce our Terms.
Send transactional email (verification, receipts, security alerts) and — only with your permission — push notifications about reviews due, streaks, and product updates.
Understand aggregated product usage through PostHog and Google Firebase analytics, and diagnose crashes and performance issues through Sentry.
Run the weekly League, including ranking weekly XP under a masked name and showing your chosen name when you enable that option or when the viewer is an accepted friend.
For eligible accounts, request age-appropriate, non-personalized completion interstitials; if you choose to watch an optional rewarded ad, verify any resulting virtual reward. Banner ads are not enabled.

3. AI Processing

Before RecallOS sends your content to a third-party AI provider, we ask for your express permission. If you allow it, relevant prompts, tutor messages, uploads, material titles, topic tags, quiz answers, and study-performance context may be sent to Anthropic and OpenAI. Either provider may process a request to generate the OCR, study material, prediction, or tutor response you requested. We do not authorize either provider to use your content to train general-purpose models. AI outputs may be stored in your library so you can return to them.

You may decline without losing access to non-AI parts of RecallOS. You can withdraw permission at any time from Settings → Third-party AI privacy. Withdrawing blocks future transfers of your content unless you opt in again.

AI-generated study material can occasionally be incomplete or inaccurate. Always verify important facts against your primary sources and your instructor's guidance. See our AI Use Disclosure for details.

3a. Education & Medical Disclaimer

RecallOS is educational support software. It is not medical advice, clinical decision support, patient care guidance, or a substitute for a licensed professional. Do not use RecallOS to make clinical, legal, or financial decisions.

4. Legal Bases (EEA/UK Users)

We process personal data under: (a) contract — to deliver the Service; (b) legitimate interest — to secure and improve the Service; (c) consent — for optional marketing, non-essential cookies, mobile advertising storage, and advertising privacy choices where required; and (d) legal obligation.

5. Service Providers We Use

We share data only with the providers we need to run the Service, each under a data protection agreement:

Supabase — managed database, authentication, and file storage.
Anthropic and OpenAI — third-party AI processing, after your express permission, for OCR, flashcards, quizzes, summaries, predictions, and tutor responses.
Apple In-App Purchase — payments for subscriptions and consumables.
RevenueCat — subscription and purchase entitlement management.
PostHog — product analytics.
Google Firebase (Analytics) — app-usage analytics and diagnostics on iOS (pseudonymous app-instance and device identifiers; not used to track you across other companies' apps or websites).
Google AdMob and User Messaging Platform — consent management and non-personalized completion interstitials for eligible Free and Recall+ accounts and optional rewarded ads for eligible Free accounts. Banner ads are not enabled. Reward verification uses an internal account identifier and single-use token as described above. RecallOS Pro and Pro-equivalent accounts are ad-free.
Sentry — server-side error monitoring and performance diagnostics.
Apple Push Notification service — push delivery (only if you opt in).

We may also disclose information to authorities when required by law or to protect rights, safety, and security, and to a successor in a merger, acquisition, or asset sale. We do not sell your personal information and we do not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising.

6. Data Retention

We retain your account and uploaded content for as long as your account is active so you can keep studying with it. You can delete individual materials at any time from your library.

6a. Account Deletion

You can delete your account at any time from Settings → Delete account. Deletion immediately wipes your uploads, generated study materials, tutor history, and profile. Within 30 days we erase or anonymize the remaining personal data tied to your account, except where retention is required for legal, accounting, or fraud-prevention purposes. If you subscribed through Apple, account deletion does not cancel your Apple subscription; manage it from your Apple ID subscriptions. You can also request deletion by emailing support@recallos.co from your account email.

7. Security

We use commercially reasonable safeguards: TLS in transit, encryption at rest, hashed passwords, role-based access, and row-level security on our database. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure; report suspected vulnerabilities to support@recallos.co.

8. International Transfers

Data may be processed in the United States and other countries. Where required, we rely on Standard Contractual Clauses or equivalent safeguards.

9. Your Rights

Depending on your jurisdiction (including GDPR, UK GDPR, CCPA/CPRA), you may have the right to access, correct, delete, port, restrict, or object to processing of your personal data, and to withdraw consent. To exercise rights, email support@recallos.co. You may also complain to your local data protection authority.

California residents: we do not sell or share personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising. You may request disclosure or deletion as described above.

10. Children

RecallOS is restricted to users who are at least 13 and meet the minimum digital-consent age where they live (16 in the EEA/UK). Account creation requires this attestation. We do not knowingly collect data from users below that minimum age. If you believe a child has provided us data, contact support@recallos.co and we will delete it.

11. Changes

We may update this Policy. Material changes will be announced in-app or by email, and we will request consent again when required by law. The date at the top identifies the latest revision.
